KMC Studio – Artwork Guidelines
Whether you’re a designer or just have a sketch on a napkin, we’re here to help you bring your idea to life — but great prints start with great files. Here’s everything you need to know to prep your artwork for production.
File Types We Love
We work best with vector files — they give us the cleanest results, especially for screen printing and embroidery.
Preferred formats:
• .AI (Adobe Illustrator)
• .EPS
• .PDF (Vector-based)
Also accepted (may require cleanup or recreation):
• .PNG (transparent background, 300 DPI minimum)
• .JPG (high resolution only)
*We don’t accept screenshots or Word/Canva files as final artwork.*
Minimum Artwork Requirements
Screen Printing: Vector artwork, solid colors, sized to print
Embroidery: Clean vector or high-res PNG; max 12 colors; no fine details
DTF Transfers: High-res PNG, 300 DPI, transparent background
Vinyl Transfers: Single-color vector preferred
Stickers & Decals: Vector or 300 DPI PNG, sized to final dimensions
Sizing & Resolution
• Screen Printing: Send your artwork at the actual print size (e.g. 10” wide at 300 DPI)
• DTF & Stickers: Minimum 300 DPI at full size
• Embroidery: Logos under 4” wide work best. Avoid small type or thin outlines.
Color Matching
We do our best to match your brand colors, but:
• Provide Pantone Solid Coated (PMS) numbers if exact color accuracy is required
• If you don’t have Pantones, we’ll match as closely as possible by eye
• Color appearance may vary between garment types, inks, and print methods
What If My Art Isn’t Print-Ready?
No stress — we offer in-house design cleanup, recreation, or full-on creative design.
Basic fixes like cleanup or color separation start at $15–$45, while full design work is quoted case-by-case.
Final Checklist
Before sending us your files, make sure:
-All text is outlined (no missing fonts)
-Colors are flattened or separated by layer
-Backgrounds are transparent (for PNGs)
-You've included any sizing or placement notes
Pro Tip
Simple designs = stronger impact.
If you’re not sure whether your artwork is ready, send it to us anyway — we’ll review it and advise you before anything goes to print.
